Why Patients Choose Sweet Tooth for Implants
Surgery in House
Dr. Garrett Oka performs implant placement, bone grafts, sinus lifts, and the final restoration himself. Many Kona-area dentists refer the surgical step out, but at Sweet Tooth Dental, we handle it under one roof.
Tech-Driven Precision
CBCT 3D imaging maps every implant site, the Galileo surgical guide system places the implant within sub-millimeter accuracy, and our in-house CEREC mill finishes the crown without a multi-week lab wait.
Ohana-Centered Care
Implants are a real decision, and we want every patient to feel like family from consultation through the long-term follow-up. We earn trust by spending time, explaining options, and never rushing.
The Sweet Tooth Implant Process
Consultation and CBCT imaging
Dr. Oka reviews your oral and medical history and captures a 3D CBCT scan of the jaw to map bone density, nerves, and the placement site.
Surgical planning with Galileo
Your placement is planned digitally using the Galileo surgical guide system, which lets the placement match the plan within sub-millimeter accuracy.
Placement (with optional same-appointment extraction)
Dr. Oka places the implant in-office. When the case allows, an extraction and placement can happen in the same appointment. Bone grafting or sinus lifts are performed at this stage when needed.
Healing and restoration
The implant integrates with the jawbone over several months. A same-day crown from our in-house CEREC system finishes the restoration when the timing is right, without a multi-week lab wait. If you are receiving an implant-supported full-arch restoration, we can provide a temporary acrylic denture while you heal.
Long-term follow-up
We monitor the implant through your routine visits, the same way we monitor your natural teeth.

Comfort and
Sedation Options
- Oral sedation
is available in-office for patients who want light to moderate relaxation during placement. - IV sedation
is available in partnership with an outside surgeon for cases that benefit from deeper sedation. - Anesthesiology support
is arranged for select cases when clinically appropriate.
Your treatment coordinator matches the comfort plan to your medical history, anxiety level, and the procedure type during consultation.
Dental Implants Cost and Financing
We know cost and uncertainty are the two biggest reasons people put implants off. That's why Dr. Oka provides every patient with a clear breakdown before any commitment is made.
- The average cost of a single dental implant and crown is $3,000 to $4,500, while implant-supported dentures start at about $20,000. All on X starts at $30,000. Implant pricing depends on the number of implants, the type of restoration, any bone grafting needed, and the sedation plan. We publish detailed pricing on our dental implants cost page.
- Dr. Oka walks every patient through an implant-vs-bridge cost comparison, because the long-term value of an implant is often what makes the decision land.
- We work with CareCredit and third-party financing so the investment can be planned across a manageable timeline.

Common Questions About Dental Implants
Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Most adults with adequate jawbone are candidates. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can build up the site for patients who would otherwise be borderline. Dr. Oka evaluates candidacy at the consultation with a CBCT scan.
How long does the implant process take from start to finish?
Most timelines run three to six months from placement to final restoration, depending on healing time and whether bone grafting is needed. Faster paths are available in select cases.
What does the recovery feel like?
Most patients return to normal activity within a day or two. Soft tissue heals over one to two weeks; the bone-to-implant integration continues quietly in the background for several months.
How long do implants last?
With routine care, implants can last decades. The crown above the implant has a typical lifespan of 10 to 15 years and can be replaced without disturbing the implant.
Can extractions and implants happen in the same appointment?
Yes, when the case allows. Dr. Oka assesses whether immediate placement is appropriate during the consultation.
Can I get a same-day crown?
Often, yes. Our in-house CEREC system mills the crown chairside when healing and integration allow. Your treatment plan will lay out which restoration approach fits your case.
